The Inspiration Behind Our Name
Our name, Fields of Peace, was inspired by this poem by Sufi saint, Rumi (1207 – 1273):
Out beyond idea of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase, “each other”
doesn’t make any sense.
Rumi’s poems have been called “pure conversation.” They carry us beyond ideologies and nationalities. They show us our sameness, and a miraculous oneness. They invite us to be children again, at play and stopped by wonder. And they instruct.
….Everything
has to do with loving and not loving.
This night will pass.
Then we have work to do.
